Solo Never Felt So Good

Solo Never Felt So Good

Alone at last?

Have you just  broken up with someone and find yourself faced with the prospect of spending your first Saturday night home alone or dread the idea of waking up Sunday morning with no one to have breakfast in bed with?

Our home is normally our sanctuary but for some, immediately following a split, the home sweet home becomes a jail cell.

The front door reminds you of that first kiss when you said good night. The couch reminds you of cuddling up to watch your favourite shows on a rainy night with a sizzling pizza and a glass of red wine.  The bedroom? Well need I say more?

Perhaps you have been Solo in the city for a long time and are not excited because your weekends always seem to be the same. You wake up and go to the same exercise class then head to the grocery store to buy dinner for one, stop by Starbucks for a latte venti. The only thing that is spicing up your life is the seasoning you are putting on the chicken breast you’re going to cook later on only to eat in front of the computer while surfing the net, answering emails or checking  your inbox from the online dating site you just signed up on.

I know from my own experience that there is a difference between trying to distract yourself from whatever you are feeling to cover up pain, fear or boredom to that of getting out and doing things that will actuality stimulate and excite you even if you are alone. It is about learning what makes you tick …your style…isn’t that the true meaning of lifestyle?

So how do you “style”your “life ” to something more fitting your solo lifestyle?

Well here is an article I read of one woman’s quest to discover her new Solo in the City preferences that I thought you may find informative and amusing.

While this woman’s adventure might seem extreme to some, the concept is clear and one that most solos can hopefully gain inspiration from. It’s all about making a plan for yourself and not feeling uncomfortable about venturing out on your own.

Why not go to a movie alone…we don’t talk to anyone during the film anyway and there is no one digging into your popcorn causing the bag to rip!

Dinner at a nice restaurant sitting at the counter can nourish your soul as well as your palate while you enjoy the environment and atmosphere, people watching.

A visit to the museum can even become a social event if you feel like joining one of the group tours or put on a head set and and stroll through at your own leisure.

So get ready to switch it up and change your attitude to alone AT LAST! And be Solo in the City!
