Don’t go on another boring date ever again!

Don’t go on another boring date ever again!

Dating in 2015 can be fun and exciting, or dull and a complete drag.  It all depends on the chemistry between the potential couple-to-be and what they make of the date itself.

Personally, I think a date says a lot about two people and their basic interests.  So why does it have to be the same old, same old?  Here’s the thing, it doesn’t

We’ve heard it all before… “Let’s meet for coffee, grab a drink or have dinner.” Been there, done that…boring!  Let’s get creative, people.  Going on a date with someone you barely know is stressful enough, so why not do something different?  Try something unique and new and get out of your comfort zone.  It’s important to find some similarities between you and your date, and go from there.

For you fitness-lovers, try an activity together.  Go on a bike ride, hike or rollerblading, and then stop for a picnic lunch.  If you’re both more artsy types, why not hit a museum, visit a pottery studio or take in a some theatre.  You can then discuss what’s moved or inspired you.

Those of you who are more intrepid, try a sushi class, a salsa lesson or even hit the gun range!  There isn’t anything hotter than getting that adrenaline going with some target practice (I’m actually serious and thinking outside the box here)!

One of my favourite date suggestions would be to be a tourist in your own city.  Go check out a site or place that neither of you have ever explored.  It’s intriguing and somewhat romantic.  There are so many options to choose from….wine tasting, beer brewing, compete in a trivia night or go to the spa (hello, couple massages).  The ideas are endless.

In order to date successfully, you have to be yourself while enjoying the moment.  Taking some of the pressure off by being a little preoccupied by your surroundings, and that will help.  Don’t be afraid to make suggestions on where to go and what to do.  You’re also a part of this chunk of time you’ve carved out of your day, so why not make it worth your while?

You may see this individual in a different light after you’ve both loosened up a tad.  You may even develop a different type of connection based on the location of your date and the enjoyment you’ve found on it.  Don’t be afraid to take a chance on the not-so-conventional and ordinary date options.  I promise, it will beat staring across the table at one another, on your second skinny latte, while people-watching at coffee shop. Yawn!
